1407-2007. Seicento anni dopo la nascita del primo mulino olandese, si celebra l' "Anno Nazionale dei Mulini" con una mostra dedicata alla rappresentazione di questa che, insieme agli zoccoli, ai tulipani e al formaggio, è diventata un'icona dei Paesi Bassi (anche se così facendo si rischia di cadere nella trappola degli stereotipi...l'Olanda è ovviamente molto di più, ma è indubbio che questi sono i simboli ai quali associamo questo Paese).La mostra itinerante si potrà vedere a rotazione in 3 musei olandesi. La prima esposizione si è tenuta fino al 28 maggio al Noordbrabants Museum di s’Hertogenbosch, dopo di che si è spostata al Bredius Museum di Den Haag (dal 15 giugno fino al 2 settembre), per terminare infine al Drents Museum di Assen (dal 18 settembre al 9 dicembre).
Accanto al ruolo del mulino nell'arte verranno considerati anche altri aspetti storici. In particolare il Noordbrabants Museum racconterà la storia dei mulini in Olanda attraverso modellini in scala oggetti e filmati. I visitatori potranno in questo modo comprendere come funziona un mulino e valutare l’impiego e la convenienza, anche per il futuro, di un'energia pulita e rinnovabile come quella eolica. 
I mulini sono il mezzo attraverso il quale i Paesi Bassi hanno affrontato il mare.
